Battlefleet Gothic: Armada Review

For over thousand years ago, the Imperium of Man has suffered under the rule of the Immortal Emperor. It explains why the worlds of Man are scattered all over across the globe and galaxy, endangered by ancient aliens, heretics who resist the Emperor’s will, and horrors prowling upon the forgotten worlds. I think by now, you have known what I am trying to push into your mind. All I need is that I want you to prepare yourself for spaceship battles even seen in the previous millenniums!

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada is one of the most popular real-time strategy online video game designed and developed by Tindalos Interactive and published by ingenious Focus Home Interactive. The above game is a digital adaptation of the Games Workshop’s featuring abandoned tabletop space naval combat. Can you imagine the naval battle in the space….isn’t wonderful?

As if that is not enough, you will be amazed to see other space machinery like Elves, Orks, and space ships that plays the role of giant cathedrals. Other things making the game more enjoyable includes giant trash heaps and demon possessed barges with lots of guns.

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada Features

As mentioned earlier, there’s no doubt that the Warhammer 40-K setting is the best part of Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, with up to four factions-the evil Chaos fleets, the Human Imperium, the elven Eldar, and the reckless Orks. Surprisingly, all these characters are looking and playing distinctively from one another. For instance, the Ork’s ships like ramming, while the Eldar like swooping around on solar sails, dashing from one vantage to another.

Although the above real-time two-dimensional strategy battle game is relatively slow paced, the good news is that it is visually appealing. Its background includes bright nebulae and planets, while the torpedos, projectiles, and fighters from each ship make combat feel exciting and busy. Under the hood, there are many special actions going on, with each ship having unique systems that can be targeted individually. Other activities taking place on the ship include special moves triggered by captains to take cover, bombs to plant, and boarding parties to launch.

The Battlefleet Gothic: Armada unveils two campaign modes. The first being a traditional story, where a gamer plays as the Imperium fighter battling against a Chaos invasion, gaining levels, recovering artifacts, and customizing ships as you (player) progress through the potential dozens of missions across ten to twenty hours. Despite the fact that it can take several to advance to different game levels, you would not be bored since a fantastic voice acting and bombastic music reinforce the gameplay.

While the previous campaign does not have a full-driven plot, the second campaign is referred to as skirmish mode. Here you can build as well as leveling up fleets in a sequence of random battles. The second mode presents a versatile and fast way to play. Depending on the engagement, fighting on this mode takes between three to ten minutes.
